Volunteer subjects needed for RESEARCH THESIS ON BACK PAIN

My name is Blair Dunbar and I am co-owner of Syner-G Massage Therapy and Wellness Center. I am a licensed Registered Massage Therapist. I am working on the final stages of a 5-year osteopathic program at the Canadian College of Osteopathy.

In order to fulfill the final requirements of the Diploma of Osteopathic Manual Therapy, I am conducting an academic thesis research study.  I am investigating the effectiveness of an osteopathic manual technique involving visceral manipulation on low back pain.

I am currently recruiting volunteer subjects for this study.

Requirements:

  • Stiff or painful low back AND/OR
  • Decreased low back range of motion
  • Are between the ages of 18-45.

Classical osteopathy is a manual form of healing which emphasizes the interrelationship between structure and function of the body, using the delicate application of touch (palpation), knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and continual communication (listening) with the body.

For more details on this study, please consult my thesis website www.BlairDunbar.com

The Parade of Lights is once again returning to Stittsville on December 2nd starting at 6:00 PM!

This is an annual tradition which brings families, friends, and neighbours together to enjoy the beautiful floats and get in the holiday spirit as they move down our scenic Stittsville Main St.

The Stittsville Village Association is looking for volunteers to help with the Parade from 5:30 pm to approximately 8:30 pm.

Volunteers will be monitoring traffic barricades along Stittsville Main Street, and can do so while enjoying the parade with family or friends. Student volunteers may claim community service hours. Youth under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Please contact Tanya Hein at tanya.hein76@gmail.com if you’re able to volunteer.

Thank you for supporting this annual holiday tradition in Stittsville!

We at the OWAA could use a volunteer to help us with some of our more tricky website issues.  Here is the description:

The Ottawa West Arts Association (OWAA) has a WordPress website, owaa.ca.  The website is up and running and being managed by members.  However, there are some issues that we cannot resolve without expert help.  Therefore, we are looking for a person having expert knowledge in WordPress, HTML, and PHP.  We estimate that, initially, we would need the volunteer for a few hours.  After that initial effort, we would like to be able to call on the volunteer to resolve difficult issues if they arise.  If you are willing to help us, please contact John Edkins (613-519-2591 or edkinsjn@gmail.com)

Thanks,

John
