Mark your calendars for our upcoming AGM which takes place next Tuesday, November 20, at Stittsville United Church on Fernbank Road. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the meal, a potluck, begins at 6:30 p.m. This is an evening that encompasses a social portion, a short business portion, and a guest speaker. It gives attendees a chance to meet each other, have a fabulous meal, and hear about something we all love- gardening! You can renew your membership at this time. You may even win a door prize!
If you plan to attend, we ask that you bring a dish to share. Beverages are provided. You may also wish to consider ways you can volunteer to help out the society. Sitting on the Board is a way to learn about the inner workings of the society, and those on the board have a hand in organizing events and decision making of society projects.
Our guest speaker this year is Kim Bonin, the individual who spearheaded the creation of the community gardens behind Jo-Jo’s, A Newfoundland native who grew up gardening, Kim missed being able to grow her own vegetables on a larger scale, so looked to creating a way that she and many others in our community could fulfill their dream of “growing their own”. Through her talk, Kim will explain her vision, the progress that has been made, and the future of the four step plan of the gardens. Kim feels that, through gardening, one’s wellbeing, both physically and mentally, is enhanced.
We look forward to seeing you at the AGM next week. Do bring along a friend, spouse, neighbour- anyone who enjoys the pursuit of gardening or would like to learn more about it. It’s a pleasant evening with something for everyone.
