At the Transportation Committee on Wednesday August 15th committee members approved the use of Gateway speed-limit signs. This signage marks the start and end of areas with lower speed limits. New provincial legislation allows municipalities to use the signs wherever speed limits are less than 50 kilometres per hour. The City would install signs on local roads in residential areas and on collector roads with speed limits of 40 kilometres per hour. Staff would work with Councillors to prioritize areas within their respective wards, with signs coming to one area per ward by the end of 2019.
