Cycling Safety event on July 29 on the Trans Canada Trail in Stittsville and Kanata

A 10 year-old boy prepares to safely ride his bicycle.

On Sunday, July 29, the Ottawa Police Service and Safer Roads Ottawa are holding education and awareness initiatives on the Trans Canada Trail in Stittsville.

On July 29th, trek the trails from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. near Abbott Street and West Ridge Drive in Stittsville and 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. at Shetland Park in Kanata

The focus of the event will be to review the safest ways for cyclists and pedestrians to share the paths, including how to pass other cyclists and pedestrians, visibility, speeding and having proper equipment.

Officers will be on hand with ATVs to show and tell what it’s like to patrol on trails and off-road conditions. Safer Roads Ottawa will also be available for questions or concerns from residents.

I highly encourage all Stittsville cyclists to take this great opportunity to learn more about safe cycling initiatives to better help you blaze the trails!
