Electric vehicles (EVs) continue to grow in popularity among Canadians, and with automakers investing billions into EVs, there is no sign of the phenomenon slowing.
Hydro Ottawa has announced a new pilot program for expected delivery this summer that will help the utility prepare for the influx of electric vehicles to the nation’s capital. Hydro Ottawa has partnered with Canada’s largest electric vehicle charging network provider, FLO, to offer a turnkey service for residents looking to install an EV charger at their home. The pilot project will help Hydro Ottawa to better understand residential EV demands on the city’s power grid. Hydro Ottawa is recruiting participants for the pilot and will manage the installation of all charging stations for eligible participants. Through this pilot program, 100 residential customers will receive a FLO Home X5 charger at a 40 per cent discount. Hydro Ottawa will assist with any rebate applications pertaining to the chargers in addition to facilitating the installations and necessary safety approvals.
