Goulbourn Township Historical Society presents – Soldiering On: Richmond Through the Decades

This year, Richmond celebrates it’s 200th anniversary celebration.

In honour of this landmark, the Goulbourn Museum staff will be making a presentation on the history of Richmond. Through their collection of artefacts, the Museum staff will unearth the history of Richmond and take us through the significant events that influenced the oldest military settlement into what we know as Richmond nowadays.

After the war in 1812, Richmond was a military settlement being recognized as such in 1818. In 1922, the military handed over control of Richmond and many civilians remained behind and Loyalist settlers arrived. Through their industrious ventures, the residents of Goulbourn Township were well supported and the area continued to grow.

At 1:30 PM on May 26th at the Goulbourn Museum (2064 Huntley Road), come and learn more as the Goulbourn Museum staff share the integral part that Richmond played in our local history and Canada’s.

The event is free and refreshments will be served. Bring your family, friends and neighbours as everyone is welcome.
