Autism Speaks Canada Walk

I am happy to share that the Autism Speaks Walk will be taking place Sunday June 3rd from 10:30-noon.

Autism Speaks Canada is dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families by supporting and working with community partners; their mission is to enhance resources and services, increase understanding, acceptance and inclusion of people with autism spectrum disorder; and advance research into causes and better interventions for autism spectrum disorder and related conditions.

The Autism Speaks Walk events are their single most important annual fundraising while bringing the community together.

Registrants will meet and begin at the Bell Sensplex (1565 Maple Grove Road) and walk 3km to Walter Baker Park (100 Charlie Rogers Place).

This event’s local walk ambassador is Noah Fortier. Noah is 13 years old and was initially diagnosed with ASD or PDD-NOS when he was almost 3 years old. While he has spent most of his elementary school years at l’Etoile-de-l’Est in Orleans, he is now in junior high at Franco Cite.

His passion is animals, but even more specifically reptiles, from the T-Rex to the gecko. He has a real interest in animals and volunteers regularly at Little Ray’s Reptile where he is a Jr. Herper, also as a Mentor. He has unconditional love for his dog Marley, a long-haired dachshund who also gives him plenty of love.

This will be the fourth year that Noah participates in the Autism Speaks Walk, and Team (T) Rex is proud to have Noah as the local ambassador for the 2018 Autism Speaks Walk in Ottawa.

The Walk includes fun activities, performers and snacks, before and after the Walk.  Arrive early to give yourself lots of time to visit and enjoy the event with your family and friends!

Upon arrival at your Walk, please proceed to Registration to submit your cash and cheque donations with your pledge form(s).  Ensure that your pledge form is clearly labeled with your name and team name (if part of a team) to ensure that you and your team receive recognition for all donations collected.

Registration begins at 9:00!

I would like to thank all volunteers for this great initiative and encourage residents to join in the campaign!
