City Council Approves Kavanagh Green Commemorative Naming Proposal

I am pleased to share that this week, City Councillor approved the commemorative naming proposal to name a new park area Kavanagh Green.

In recognition of the Kavanagh family’s historical significance to the community of Stittsville, the name was proposed for a future park to be constructed at the southwest corner intersection of Hazeldean road and Stittsville Main Street.  This park will be under construction in 2018 and will provide a variety of park features including items that will be promote an active lifestyle for the seniors, as well as all members of the community.  For more information on the park plans please visit my website here.

For nearly a century, Kavanagh family members have made important contributions to the community of Stittsville and surrounding areas which include owning and operating the popular Stittsville Flea Market for 25 years and volunteering with the Food Bank, Holy Spirit Church and the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice.
