A Message from Our Community Police Officer

Our Community Police Officer Constable Kevin Williams has provided the following information to share with the community.

Attached is a link to the Ottawa Police Service Online Crime Mapping Tool to assist you in obtaining statistics for your neighbourhood. The Ottawa Crime Map displays calls for service over the past 14 days for selected incident types. You can also change the date selection and the categories to customize a search to display up to 30 consecutive days worth of data within the last six months.

Criminal Code of Canada offence data (actual crimes) is also available through the Ottawa Neighbourhood Study website. There you’ll find data for the previous five calendar years with detail on violent and non-violent offence types. The website allows you to compare volume of crime relative to other neighbourhoods in the city and the city average.

The most recent Crime Trends report for the city of Ottawa and city wards is also available on the Ottawa Police Website. It provides a snapshot of police activity for the last calendar year and examines all founded Criminal Code of Canada offences that were reported to the Ottawa Police

over the last three years.

Attached are links to the Ottawa Police Service Crime Prevention and Safety programs, News Releases if you would like to register for news updates, the Crime Prevention Ottawa Neighbourhood Tool Kit and the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services Home Security Audit Guide.

Reporting incidents to the police is important and provides us with the information needed to identify crime patterns. Please encourage all of your neighbours to report any crimes in progress, suspicious activity and all crimes to the police to assist us in addressing crime in the community.
