Brown’s Independent Accepting Food Donations for the OC Transpo/Loblaw Fill the Bus Christmas Food Drive

This Saturday, December 2nd, I encourage all residents to stop by Brown’s Independent Grocer on 1251 Stittsville Main St in support of the 33rd Annual OC Transpo/Loblaw Fill the Bus Christmas Food Drive for the Stittsville Food Bank!

From 9:00-6:00, OC Transpo buses will be parked outside Brown’s Independent and other participating Loblaws, Real Canadian Superstore, Your Independent Grocer and No Frills stores across Ottawa. Volunteers will be collecting non-perishable food items and cash donations. If you can’t make it out on December 2, you can donate online at ottawafoodbank.ca/octranspo. For every dollar you give, the Ottawa Food Bank can purchase about $5 worth of food because of their wholesale purchasing power.

This year marks the 33rd annual OC Transpo/Loblaw Christmas Food Drive. It is the Ottawa Food Bank’s largest single-day food drive of the year. It fills a need when many families are struggling to make ends meet and helps to ensure there is enough to eat during a time of year when demand is at its highest.

Food collected is delivered to four local food banks: the Stittsville Food Bank, the Ottawa Food Bank, FAMSAC Food Cupboard located in Nepean, and the Kanata Food Cupboard.

I would like to thank Brown’s Independent for their continued support for the Fill the Bus campaign in helping to ensure that nobody goes hungry this holiday season. Please give generously.
