I would like to share an important campaign being introduced by the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) to improve the quality of care provided to some of our region’s most vulnerable children and youth — those with mental health challenges, physical and development disabilities and other special needs.
Too many kids wait too long for service and too many families have to work too hard to access care. Families have mentioned that they want a hub for these programs — and one that is purpose-built for kids with special needs, not cramped rental space in an aging office building.
These kids and families deserve better. CHEO has a plan to deliver that and residents can help.
For the next six weeks, CHEO’s #1door4care campaign will unfold across many channels to raise awareness of these issues at www.1door4care.ca. CHEO is requesting residents to please take 10 seconds and add your name to the list (by signing up at the website).
As a member of the City’s Accessibility Advisory Committee, I encourage all residents to sign the letter in support of #1door4care to ensure that these children with challenges either mental or physical receive treatment in a facility that adequately responds to their needs. Thank you.
