In the year 2000, just seventeen years ago, Stittsville flew for the first time the Trans-Canada-Trail Flag (shown above) to celebrate the opening of the trail through our community.
The flag will fly in Stittsville again this weekend in tandem with the ceremony happening at Major’s Hill Park. The purpose is to celebrate and recognize the adjoining of the Trans-Canada-Trail from one end to another.
If residents are near Stittsville’s Village Square Park this week I would encourage them to visit the flag and maybe even take a walk down the beautiful TCT – we are very lucky to have it.
I would like to thank Mr. Steve Malcolm for preserving this flag and providing it to my office to fly at Village Square this weekend.
