Have Your Say: 2018 Pre-Budget Consultations

Ottawa residents will have several opportunities in September and October to take part in pre-budget consultations, as part of the City of Ottawa’s 2018 budget development process.

Starting on Tuesday, September 12, City Councillors will be hosting sessions with residents from their wards to share their comments for the 2018 budget, including suggested priorities and potential areas for savings.  I am working with Councillors Hubley and Wilkinson to arrange for a pre-budget consultation to be held in the Kanata/Stittsville area and once this is confirmed it I will advise the community.

It is very important that residents get engaged in the pre-budget consultation process as this is your opportunity to provide feedback on the City’s budget process.  Residents of Stittsville should be providing their feedback to the City.

To assist residents in preparing for these meetings, background information and budget resource materials are available at ottawa.ca.   Residents can also use the Citizen Budget tool to provide feedback on City services, and to understand how property tax dollars are spent. With this innovative and easy to use tool, you can see how changes in spending would affect your tax bill.

Residents may also offer budget input by sending an email directly to myself and budget@ottawa.ca or by tweeting @ottawacity using the hashtag #ottbudget.

Below are some consultations that have been confirmed.  As I noted we are working to confirm a consultation in the Stittsville/Kanata area.  Please check the online Public Engagement Event calendar for additional updates.
