On August 26th, residents are requested to stop by the D`arcy McGees on Terry Fox (655 Terry Fox Drive) between 11:00-2:00 where a car wash is taking place in support of Lamitta’s Wish.
Lamitta is a young Stittsville girl with cerebral palsy looking to fund an important surgery to give her the ability to walk.
The selective dorsal rhizotomy surgery is an expensive procedure which costs upwards of $130,000. Residents all year have been coming together to help raise funds for this brave and joyful girl in whatever ways they can including carwashes, bakesales, and fundraisers. Last weekend’s bottle drive was a great success and managed to raise $621! Wow!
Lamitta’s surgery is currently scheduled for September and it is not too late to help out.
Local firefighters from Station 81 have generously agreed to be on site and provide a firetruck to hose down the suds and staff from D`arcy McGee’s and Swiss Chalet have generously agreed to fund a BBQ in support of the charity and provide staff to help wash the cars.
I would like to thank Kim Hine for taking the initiative to organize this effort and all volunteers who are contributing their time.
I highly encourage all residents to stop by as our community comes together to support Lamitta and her wish to walk!
