I am pleased to let residents know about an upcoming comedy program – in French – organized by the Ottawa Public Library (OPL): Soirée Fou rire, LOL! OPL is partnering with ACFO (Association canadienne-française de l’Ontario) to present an evening of stand-up comedy by several recently-trained adult and adolescent Franco-Ontarian comics from our region. The performers are all finalists of professional training programs led by the comedy groups, Troupe LOL or Fou rire collectif.
The June 13 program is part of the OPL’s special programming that celebrates storytelling in all its forms during Canada’s 150th anniversary year. Comedy is a fun and creative form of storytelling, as well as means of cultural expression, that can bring people out of their shells and pull communities together.
The event will take place on Tuesday, June 13th at 7 p.m. at the Shenkman Arts Centre – Richcraft Theatre. Admission is free but tickets should be reserved online. Participants should be 12 years of age or older.
I highly encourage all residents to take this opportunity to get out and enjoy some out-loud laughs! L.O.L.!
