I am happy to share that the planting for the 150 Maple Groves project has begun across the City.
As part of the project, groves of 150 maple trees are being planted in each ward to celebrate the Canada 150 celebrations. The groves will consist of three species of maple trees – sugar, red and silver and the newly planted trees will be around 6 to 8 feet tall, on average.
The Canada 150 Maple Groves project was generously supported by the Government of Canada, Tree Canada and CN.
Each grove will be adorned with a stone site marker, engraved to commemorate the 150thanniversary celebrations.
Stittsville’s newest maple grove site can be found at the pathway link at 46 Beverly and I highly encourage all residents to stop by and see the great progress as they grow.
Residents are also invited to read more about the project and for your benefit, I have attached a Frequently Asked Questions PDF available here.
