I am always pleased to share resident achievements with our community. This week, five Stittsville residents have been recognized for their various talents in dance, education, policing, and music.
On May 9th, Anjali Patil, Director of Aroha Fine Arts, was recognized with the prestigious Corel Endowment for the Arts Award.
This award celebrated Anjali’s culturally diverse dance style and the vital role it plays in Ottawa and in contemporary dance.
As well recently, St. Stephen Catholic School principal, Roberto (Bob) Santos, was awarded the Principal of the Year Award from the Catholic Principals’ Council of Ontario.
Bob exemplifies gospel values in his daily actions and personifies leadership by his commitment to self-improvement. He teaches classes, supervises students and coaches within the school’s extracurricular activities. Through staff meetings, PLC Activities and Bob’s ability to relate to his teachers, he fosters a school environment that is caring and promotes student success.
At the Community Police Awards on May 8th, Stittsville residents Geoffrey Davidson and Terrance Davidson were awarded the Certificate of Valour for their assistance at an accident scene.
The Certificate of Valour recognizes members of the community or police service who, in an act of personal bravery or highly-meritorious service, provided assistance to another individual or member of the Ottawa Police Service.
Also recognized this week was Stittsville resident, Elina Wang, who was award a junior piano scholarship.
On May 6 at the Eastern Ontario Friends of Conservatory Canada gala recital, Elina was awarded the scholarship for achieving the highest piano mark in the region in Conservatory Canada piano examinations grades 1 to 4 with a mark of 90.3%. Elina is feature below with her piano teacher, Betty Harris.
I would like to send my sincere congratulations to each of these individuals for their incredible accomplishments! The hard work and contributions of our community members is what helps to make Stittsville a truly incredible place to live.
