I am happy to share that the first ever 100in1day festival is coming to Ottawa on June 3, 2017 and residents have the opportunity to be a part of making Ottawa a better, safer, healthier, or smarter community.
Not-for-profit organization, Synapcity and its partners, the Preston Street and Westboro BIAs want to give you a micro-grant of $50 to help lift your idea off the ground.
100in1day is a festival of civic engagement organized by Synapcity and its partners, the Preston Street and Westboro BIAs, meant to motivate residents to make their ideas for improving our city a reality. Hundreds of residents will come together to spark a day of change, leading interventions for their communities.
Interventions are small actions that make you and your neighbours happier – they don’t need to cost a lot. They just need your imagination. Interventions can be street art projects, free outdoor music performances, flash mob events, pop-up picnics, bike parades, temporary art installations, guerilla gardening projects, neighbourhood walking tours, and much more.
Residents can participate by either activating their own intervention or by volunteering to an existing project. Visit www.100in1day.ca/ottawa for more details and to sign up.
I am currently trying to work on a couple of projects to be held in Stittsville. If you would like to share any ideas, please do not hesitate to contact me at Shad.Qadri@ottawa.ca
