This Wednesday, April 12th marks the International Day of Pink and I would like to encourage all residents to participate.
The International Day of Pink originated in 2007 when two Nova Scotia students stood up for a colleague who was bullied for wearing pink. The boys bought and distributed 50 pink shirts for students to wear in support of the youth.
Since then, the day has been celebrated as a means for students to stand together and put an end to bullying.
We all have the means to stand up to bullies and support the diversity of one another. On Wednesday, April 12th, I encourage everyone to demonstrate their stance against bullying by wearing pink.
