Ottawa 2017 is crashing off to a big start as the sesquicentennial anniversary’s first signature sporting event.
Red Bull Crashed Ice is a high-intensity action sport where athletes skate down a massive ice track filled with drops hairpin turns, and gaps at speed over 50 km/h. It’s the fastest sport on skates.
The event will be taking place over the locks of the Rideau Canal between Parliament Hill and the Chateau Laurier Hotel.
The events begin Friday, March 3rd with the Shootouts from 10:00-12:30. The gates open at 5:30 PM and the World Junior Championship skates off from 8:00-9:30 PM. Then, the fun continues on March 4th where the gates open at 6:00 PM where the exciting conclusion of the Ice Cross Downhill World Finals run from 8:30-10:00 PM.
