Nominations are now open for the 20th Annual Spirit of the Capital Youth Awards.
Last year, Stittsville resident Eva Von Jagow took home the prize for the Serving and Caring category. This year, it could be another familiar face!
On Monday June 5th, 2017 at Ottawa City Hall in Jean Pigott Place, Youth Ottawa will honour young people outstanding in a variety of categories including:
- Academic Perseverance
- Arts & Culture
- Entrepreneurship & Innovation
- Service & Caring
- Strength Through Diversity
- Take A Stand
- Max Keeping Personal Courage Award
This year, there will be two winners in each category who will receive $700 each to be used for the advancement of academics or social enterprise in line with the values of Youth Ottawa. The Spirit of the Capital Youth Awards are known for shining the spotlight on Ottawa’s unsung heroes – young people who have made a difference in the lives of their peers, who have used their talents and creativity to tackle some of the community’s most pressing challenges, and who have overcome adversity and shown remarkable courage.
I highly encourage residents to take this opportunity to nominate one of the outstanding young community members we see making influential change each day. Best of luck!
