Last weekend, 19-year-old Stittsville resident, Alex Gunther skated in the national skating championships at TD Place Arena.

He and his skating partner from Oakville, Kaitlyn Chubb, qualified for the nationals by skating in the Eastern Ontario Sectionals last fall. They joined 14 other couples competing on the rink January 17th.

This was Alex’s third time skating in the national championship but first with his new partner. And although the pair did not finish on the podium, they are taking their experiences and setting a new goal to compete in the Vancouver nationals next year.

Congratulations on all of your hard work Alex. Stittsville supports you as you continue your journey!
