Happy Chinese New Year

I would like to take a moment to wish all of our Chinese residents good health and good fortune this Saturday as they celebrate Chinese New Year.

2017 is the year of the Rooster – more specifically the Fire Rooster. Both zodiac sign and element are believed to shape one’s personality and destiny and Fire Roosters are said to exhibit signs of
trustworthiness with a strong sense of timekeeping and responsibility at work.

According to Chinese astrology, the year of one’s birth sign is the most unlucky for an individual within the 12 year cycle as it is when you are at risk of offending the God of Age (Tai Sui).

As such, if you are celebrating this year, remember to stay close to lucky numbers: 5, 7, and 8; lucky colours: gold, brown, and yellow; and lucky directions: south and southeast!

Happy Chinese New Year, residents.
