Ottawa communities answer the call to amplify the festivities in 2017

Last year, the City of Ottawa in conjunction with the Ottawa 2017 Bureau announced that $200,000 of funding would be made available to successful applications with the City’s Civic Events Funding Program.

Now, I am happy to let residents know about the 49 community organizations who will use that funding to plan unique celebrations throughout the nation’s capital for Canada’s 150th anniversary that will highlight local culture with an increased quantity, quality and diversity of community programming.

In addition to funding, organizations will receive special pageantry kits to add an Ottawa 2017 flair to their events.

All events are open to the public and presented free of charge. The full list is available by clicking here and the two successful Stittsville applicants include:

June 18

Father’s Day Flashback

Presented by: Goulbourn Museum

July 1

Canada Day 150 in Stittsville

Presented by: Stittsville Village Association

I would like to send my sincere congratulations to the Goulbourn Museum and the Stittsville Village Association for their approved funding. I hope that residents will be able to make it out to both of these ward events and celebrate 2017 in true Stittsville fashion.
