The 3rd annual Kanata, Stittsville and Carp Stocking Project launched on December 1st at the Hazeldean Mall. I along with my West-end councillor colleagues Marianne Wilkinson and Allan Hubley had the privilege of participating in the official ribbon cutting to kick off the campaign.
The Stocking Project was created to benefit those individuals and families in need. To help those who would not normally ask for help. Items are donated that one would typically find/receive in a Christmas stocking ie chocolates, toiletries, gift cards etc. Recipients names are provided and remain anonymous.“Elves” deliver the stockings stiffed with the donated items to the individuals and families a few days before Christmas, leaving them on their front door step with an anonymous note. The project currently serves Kanata, Stittsville and Carp communities.
Last year 500 Christmas Stockings were delivered. It is anticipated that an additional 500 will be requested for this year.
