This week, I was honoured to provide greetings on behalf of Mayor Watson and City of Ottawa to the Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle Launch.
The Christmas Kettle Campaign is a fundraising effort that takes place each year during the Christmas season to support the work of The Salvation Army throughout the year. Kettles are available in 2000 locations across Canada to provide an opportunity for the public to donate whatever funds to those who need it most.
The Salvation Army serves 250,000 meals to the hungry in need in Ottawa each year.
Funds support Emergency Disaster Services providing support to victims of disasters including house fires and relief for emergency personnel.
I highly encourage residents to donate when they have an opportunity Christmas shopping this year. What might be spare change for you might make a world of difference to someone else.
