Tie up your laces because it’s that time of year again for 9RunRun. 9RunRun is Ottawa’s very own run in support of local emergency services.

The event, which originally consisted solely of a half-marathon, now also includes a 10k and “2kish” run for families and kids. This year, funds raised will go to support great charities such as Do it for Daron, Hope Raising at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, Camp F.A.C.E.S , Centurion K9, and Student-Athlete Mental Health Initiative.

Registration is open until 11:59 PM October 13th.

The street/lane closures required for the ½ marathon route (beginning at 9:00 a.m.) are as follows:

  • Abbott Street West between West Ridge Drive and Stittsville Main Street (full closure 7:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.);
  • Stittsville Main Street between Abbott Street West and Fernbank Road (full closure from approximately 8:50 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.);
  • Stittsville Main Street between Fernbank Road and Flewellyn Road; (southbound
    from approximately 8:50 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.);
  • Flewellyn Road between Stittsville Main Street and Munster Road (westbound);
  • Munster Road between Flewellyn Road to Fernbank Road (northbound);
  • Fernbank Road between Munster Road and Jinkinson Road (eastbound);
  • Jinkinson Road between Fernbank Road and Trans Canada Trail (northbound),
  • Trans Canada Trail between Jinkinson Road and West Ridge Drive (eastbound),
  • West Ridge Drive between Trans Canada Trail and Abbott Street West, and
  • Abbott Street West between West Ridge Drive and Stittsville Main Street.

The street/lane closures required for the 10 km route (beginning at 9:00 a.m.) are:

  • Abbott Street West between Jonathan Pack Street and Stittsville Main Street (full closure 7:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.);
  • Stittsville Main Street between Abbott Street West and Elm Crescent (full closure from approximately 8:50 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.);
  • Elm Crescent between Stittsville Main Street and Goulbourn Street (westbound);
  • Goulbourn Street between Elm Crescent (north intersection) and Cypress Gardens ;
  • Cypress Gardens between Goulbourn Street and Elm Crescent (south intersection);
  • Elm Crescent (south intersection) between Cypress Gardens and Bell Street;
  • Bell Street between Elm Crescent and West Ridge Drive (westbound);
  • West Ridge Drive between Bell Street and Trans Canada Trail (northbound);
  • Trans Canada Trail between West Ridge Drive and turn around point (trail remains open);
  • West Ridge Drive between Trans Canada Trail and Abbott Street West, and
  • Abbott Street West between West Ridge Drive and Stittsville Main Street.

Come join hundreds of police, fire and paramedic personnel, on-site firetrucks and emergency vehicles and the Annual Chief’s Chili Cook-off for some competitive post-race fun.

The event takes place October 15th with runners meeting at Race HQ in Village Square Park.
