Last year, the City of Ottawa was pleased to present the Order of Ottawa to 15 deserving and extraordinary Ottawa citizens in recognition of their exceptional contributions in many areas of city life including arts and culture, business, philanthropy, health care, education, public service, labour, communications and media, science, sports and entertainment.
On November 17, 2016, Mayor Jim Watson will again present this prestigious award at a ceremony at City Hall to residents of Ottawa who have made a significant contribution in a professional capacity that has been of benefit to our community.
The Brian Kilrea Award for Excellence in Coaching will also be presented at this ceremony. Created in 2003, this award is in recognition of Mr. Kilrea’s 1000th career victory and acknowledges the contribution of an amateur coach who best exemplifies the qualities of leadership and commitment that have been the hallmarks of Brian Kilrea’s career.
The deadline for nominations is Friday, September 9th, and the City of Ottawa hopes to once again attract a wide and diverse array of individuals, who through their professional achievements, have demonstrated outstanding service and commitment to our city.
I hope that all residents take a moment to nominate a deserving individual as we have many members of our community with outstanding community contributions – just last year for instance, one of the recipients was Paul Meeks of Stittsville.
