The Stittsville Food Bank is a wonderful part of the Stittsville community.
Thanks to the generous contributions by both the community and the hard-working volunteers, they function without food or financial aid from the Ottawa Food Bank, operating as an independent associate member.
About 50 volunteers help to collect, organize, and distribute the donated food as well as 12 members who sit on the Board of Directors.
Their mission is to “provide assistance to those in need in the former Township of Goulbourn which includes the communities of Stittsville, Ashton and the surrounding rural areas. [They] distribute non-perishable and perishable food items as well as a limited list of personal toiletries. The Stittsville Food Bank is run entirely by unpaid volunteers and has been in operation since 1992.”
You can find the kind volunteers of the food bank at community events, food drives, and of course when they pick up your generous donations at one the five designated drop-off locations.
Find one today and drop off your non-perishable/expired items at Brown’s Independent Grocer (1251 Stittsville Main), Giant Tiger (6081 Hazeldean), Sobey’s (6315 Hazeldean), Walmart (5357 Fernbank Rd), or the Goulbourn Recreation Complex (1500 Shea Rd) in front of my ward office. Drop off and say hello!
