Wednesday May 4th was quite the McHappy Day. McHappy day when McDonald’s restaurants across Canada and their communities, employees, customers and special guests raise money together to help raise funds for children and their families in need. I had the privilege of participating as a volunteer at the Stittsville location on Main Street serving and collecting donations from customers between 5 and 6 p.m.
The funds raised in Ottawa go to support the Ronald McDonald house. Since 1984 the Ronald McDonald House has welcomed out of town families and their children, providing a welcoming, safe, affordable, temporary accommodation for families of children being treated at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. It is a place where families share and receive moral support from each other, helping keep their lives as normal as circumstances allow. Children who are being treated as outpatients can reside at the House – for more information you can visit here.
I would like to thank Jo-Anne and Perry McKenna owners of the Stittsville Main Street location for their many years of support and everyone involved who gave their time to make McHappy Day a great success. This year, they raised $48,854 for the restaurants that they own.
